http://www.cycleback.com/1800s/earlyphotos.htm

Here's a link to the early styles of photography we have been studying from Daguerreotypes, Ambrotypes, Tintypes, Albumen prints, etc.  It's more of a brief summary over them and it gives some good examples that we haven't seen in class.  Later it talks more about the Cartes de vista and how they were also used as sort of a baseball trading cards.  The photographs are mostly of sports teams or players of the day so if you're a sports fan then you might enjoy this a little more.  If you click on the small links in the above left corner of the website you'll find more information about early printing processes and how the cartes de vista/trading card had it's brief period in the late 1800's.  Enjoy!
