Andreas Gursky

Andreas Gursky is a German photographer who is known for making large format color prints. I discovered his work at the Art Institute of Chicago last week where his print called Shanghai is on display. His works are well known as being some of the most expensive photographic prints ever sold. His photograph Rhein II went for $4.3m at Christie's New York and his photograph 99 Cent II Diptychon went for $3.34m at Sotheby's London! I would love to have any of these hanging on my wall, but I don't think that will happen with my college budget.

  1. I think Rhein II is still the most expensive photo ever sold. Glad you saw his work in Chicago!
