Eric Kruszewski is an American photojournalist that I
happened to stumble upon. From 2005 to 2010 he traveled the world taking
photographs in 26 countries on 4 continents. During the course of his travels
he realized that people think that America is like the movies. He became aware of the fact that the
only example of American culture represented in the world is from Hollywood cinema.
He decided to return to the US with the intent to create photographs that show
the “other slices” of American life. He set out on a 14-day excursion across
the US and photographed everyday American people and things. This project
reminded me of an updated version of Robert Frank’s The Americans.
It would be interesting to compare one of his images to one of Frank's and write a bit about that. A scrapbook idea, perhaps.
