Doug Rickard is one of my favorite contemporary photographers. He was featured in MOMA's New Photography 2011 exhibition. The former history and sociology major created a wonderful series called
A New American Picture which focuses on poverty and racial equality in the United States. Instead of traveling around to take his photos, he uses Google Earth Street View. He composes his images inside the program then takes digital photographs of them. His methods are slightly controversial because it raises the question as to wether or not he is the actual photographer. Either way, I find his work fascinating. I am including a link to his website so that you can check his work out if you have a chance.
