A little history on Jacob A. Riis

I came upon a short history into the photography of Jacob A. Riis on the New York Times website. Riis was a reporter who published "How the Other Half Lives"which became very influential in the reform of tenet slums. There is a like to a slide show of photos that illustrate the horrible conditions. Fittingly described as "haunting," these photos show a moving glimpse of real people living on the streets of New York City in the late 1800s.
